Benefits Of Aloe Vera

Posted by Purrfect Sunday on

There are a number of ingredients out there that make a product work wonders for your skin, but today we’re going to share one in particular that does a whole lot of good: aloe vera! Known as probably one of the super ingredients in skincare, aloe vera is not just used to ease your sunburn or minor cuts, it has many other great benefits too! Intrigued? Let’s learn more about this nutritious ingredient!

What Is Aloe Vera?

Aloe vera is a plant that can be found in tropical climates and is used for medicinal and agricultural purposes. Known to be a compound-rich gel, aloe vera contains antioxidants, enzymes, and vitamins A, B, C, D, and E. That’s a lot of powerful and beneficial ingredients in just one plant! This ingredient will hydrate your skin to max because it is made out of 98% water - leaving your skin super soothed and moisturized!

If you thought there was only one type of aloe vera, think again! It is estimated that there are roughly 420 different types of aloe vera species, but the one that is commonly used for skin conditions is called aloe barbadensis miller. Who knew?!

What Are The Benefits of Aloe Vera?

When it comes to the benefits of aloe vera, there is a bountiful amount to go around! Here are some of the great things that aloe vera can do for you:

Helps With Dry Skin

As previously mentioned, aloe vera is a great moisturizing tool that can help with dry, itchy skin. If you happen to have eczema or psoriasis, aloe vera can help alleviate it. The good thing about aloe vera is that it absorbs easily into your skin and does not leave behind any film. If you happen to suffer from oily or dry skin, aloe vera will help balance it! Our body butters that we offer here at the shop are perfect to have on hand to aid in nourishing your skin.

Aloe vera contains a high amount of mucopolysaccharides. What in the world is that you may ask? It is a type of molecule chain that has lots of hydrating properties that you typically find in moisturizing products. Instead of leaving your skin feeling stiff as leather, aloe vera will leave it feeling smooth and supple!

Helps With Aging

Although aloe vera cannot completely get rid of wrinkles and fine lines, it can help prevent future ones from appearing on your skin! Aloe vera acts as a barrier for your skin so if it is exposed to the sun, it will help combat any burning that may occur. Moreover, the antioxidants found in this ingredient can repair skin damage. Everyone wants that youthful glow and aloe vera can help with trying to maintain that!

Helps With Some Acne

Acne can be a pain but with aloe vera, it can help reduce it on your skin! While cystic and deeper acne cannot be treated with aloe vera, those that have pustules and nodules will be able to see a difference in their skin once they use aloe vera. Additionally, aloe vera helps stimulate the production of collagen and can help reduce the appearance of acne scars. If you have any inflammation on your skin, aloe vera can help reduce it and make way for the production of new skin. What does this lead to? Radiant and glowing skin - yes please!

The enzymes found in aloe vera will exfoliate your skin due to the salicylic acid found in the plant. From there, this process will make your skin smooth by getting rid of dead skin cells and bacteria. We like the sound of that!

How Do You Apply It?

A little goes a long way with aloe vera! If you are planning on applying aloe on its own, be sure to take a small amount. Applying too much can dry out your skin and make it oily. Who wants that? Always be sure to wash it off after a little bit - we want you to have oh-so beautiful skin! Not only that, your skin might not be used to it! Try a little swab on your hand to see if you have a reaction. If not, then you can go ahead and put the proper amount on your face!
